How to lose weight while commuting: Ride a bike

No, we’re not in the Netherlands, so I’m not suggesting that you cycle to work. Riding a scooter or a motorcycle will do. The vibrations of an old scooter will help you lose weight on your thighs and buttocks.

When in a car, don’t rest your back, even in a seatbelt

This is a kickass ab workout because your body has to maintain balance in an unstable environment, with added pressure from the seatbelt. In just one day’s commute, your belly will feel so much tighter. So not only will this help you with your how to lose weight plans, it will also get you toned. If someone else is driving then you can even try to pull your feet up, sit cross-legged and balance yourself in that position. The more winding the road, the better the workout.

Listen to a favourite song on an earphone before falling asleep

We carry too many of our day’s worries to bed. The stress makes our muscles tense and robs us of healing rest. Listening to your favourite song will immediately put you in a good mood and relax your muscles – just as long as your favourite song doesn’t belong to the death metal genre. Getting a restful sleep improves memory, cognition & metabolism (the bodily function that is largely responsible in helping you lose weight).

How to lose weight by giving into your cravings

If you crave something fatty or sweet, give in. But only during the day. Food eaten during the day, if eaten mindfully, is usually well digested. If it’s comfort food you’re indulging in, make sure you understand that this is a temporary relief for any emotional distress you are experiencing. Sit down and really relish your meal. Eat slowly and savour every bite. When you’re in a better place, go grab the bull by its horns. You can do it.

Be out of doors helps weight loss

If you live in a polluted and dirty city, take up the challenge and go find yourself some clean and green spaces. Get some sun, breeze, and catch a few mesmerizing views. Gaze at faraway things. Breathe deep. Touch the earth with bare feet and bare hands. You will feel so alive that your metabolism will peak and so will your overall health. Remember, if the green space is far away, take your bike. Health doesn’t have to be serious business.
