The stats for 2017 zoom in on UK viewing habits to reveal Brits’ top searches and favourite categories of 2017 – and we clearly have some very distinct tastes.

Figures for the UK reveal that Brits are obsessed with “mature” porn

Britain’s favourite category, “Mature”, was viewed 43 per cent more than the global average, while clicks on “Lesbian” videos were up 32 per cent compared to other countries.

“Bondage” is in third place, 28 per cent up on the average, while “MILF” (Mother I’d Like To F***) and “Celebrity” round out the top-five relative categories.

But while we now know that Britain’s ideal porno would star a tied-up, older lesbian celebrity, we don’t know what impact these viewing habits could be having on our love lives.

Thankfully, Dr Pam Spurr, the Sun’s sex and love expert, is on hand to pick apart these top five trends and explain what they say about you and your relationships.

Mature

A preference for older women is what makes Britain stand out from the global porn landscape, with UK users logging 43 per cent more interest in the “Mature” category.

Dr Pam says: “Lust after older-woman action? No surprise, it reflects changes in society. Older women, of the Saga generation, have been shouting it loud and clear that they won’t be written off.

“There are countless articles about sex, and looking attractive, for the over-50s. These messages – that older women are raring to go – has captured the imagination of porn viewers.

“Part of this might to learn new tricks. Porn users dying to know what sizzling tips that older woman might have up her sleeve – or stocking tops.

“Another part to ‘mature’ porn is definitely kinky. Porn users are curious about what older women – wrinkles and all – look like in action. Plus it’s kinky to fantasise about a woman they’d normally be respectful of.

“This might be good news for people’s sex lives, potentially breaking down ageism and stopping the old-fashioned view that people get too old for sex. Instead they can romp into their 60s, 70s and beyond.”

Lesbian

Britain’s top search term and the second highest-performing relative category, Brits watch 32 per cent more lesbian porn than the global average.

Dr Pam says: “Girl-on- girl sex is a perennial favourite, popular with both men and women. Countless surveys reveal pretty much every one finds it exciting watching two women.

“Lesbian porn ranges from the soft and gentle, to strap-on action that’ll make your eyes water. This could have a positive spin-off, showing that women’s needs vary.

“Men watching it often fantasise of joining in, pleasuring both women at once. They fantasise about their sexual prowess to win the women over.

Some men confide it’s a learning experience to pick up better technique – a benefit for their relationships.

“Many straight women watch it, fantasising about how different sex would be with a woman, compared to being with their man.

“For some women, lesbian porn is a game changer for relationships. They discover they’re bi-curious. If this is who they really are, it’s a necessary discovery.”

Bondage

A more niche preference, bondage videos are up 28 per cent in the UK, compared to the rest of the world.

Dr Pam says: “An entire world of sex-ploration opened up with the ‘Fifty Shades’ phenomenon. And bondage porn’s more popular than ever, with society no longer being shocked by kinkiness.

“Some women get a lot from it. They feel empowered about trying different roles in the bedroom. Many men have come along for the ride!

“And there’s such flexibility in bondage porn. Sometimes the women, other times men, are dominant or submissive. There’s a whole range of fantasy scenarios it creates for a couple.

“Watching bondage porn, as a treat, can signal a healthy relationship. A couple realises their sexual roles can change which is a positive thing.

“It also gives lots of ideas for sex-perimenting with handcuffs, spanking paddles, whips, blindfolds, etc.”

MILF

As well as being the second most searched term in the UK, the MILF category enjoys 22 per cent more relative popularity in the UK.

Dr Pam says: “Into viewing younger or older mums? MILF-porn’s all about her having something ‘extra’ because she’s had children – knowledge, wisdom and sexiness.

“So there’s a mix things going on. One aspect is men being turned on by mothers, supposedly “nurturing” by nature but naughty in the porn scenarios.

“There’s also something about territoriality: they’re watching a mother who’d undoubtedly have a partner. MILF-porn means men fantasise they could satisfy her needs more than her partner.

“The man who enjoys MILF-porn might be more experimental in bed. And unlike some men – who go off sex after they father children – these guys might enjoy it more.

“When it comes to our society, though, it seems motherhood is no longer sacred.”

Celebrity

Up 19 per cent relative to the rest of the world, the Celebrity category is one of Britain’s most popular.

Dr Pam says: “Being a celebrity – even for notoriety rather than an actual talent – is a ticket to adoration in our society, as confirmed by the rise of celebrity-porn.

“This is so unhealthy for many people, who simply don’t feel good enough, that they’ll never be a “celeb”.

“However those who fancy a bit of celeb-porn probably place a higher value on themselves. They want something they see as ‘higher end’…as the porn stars get their ends away!

“It gives scope for some to fantasise about their favourite celeb – the Holly Willoughbys or Rita Oras – being in a porn scenario.

“But watch it, this is potentially unhealthy for relationships. The person might have high expectations, wanting everything sprinkled with a little stardust.”
