The 17-year-old, who has scored 14 goals in 39 Championship games this season, won five prizes at the EFL awards on Sunday including Championship Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season.

Fulham saw their automatic promotion hopes dented by a last-gasp equaliser by Brentford on Saturday – a result which ended a four-match winning run – to leave Slavisa Jokanovic’s team one point behind second-placed Cardiff, who have a game in hand over the Whites.

“I have been at the club since the age of eight. It has been a dream of mine to play in the Premier League with Fulham.

“We are so very close I just want to get over the line now.”

Sessegnon has been instrumental for Fulham in the second half of the season helping them build an impressive 21-match unbeaten run in the league but the winger was keen to praise his colleagues and manager for his progress, after his success at the EFL Awards.

“It’s a great achievement of mine. It’s a credit to the team and the way we have been playing this season,” he said.

“We have played an attractive brand of football. It has helped me in the way I like to play.

“The gaffer has put a lot of confidence in me, as someone so young, he can only improve me as a player.”
