Anthony Rizzo will bat third Tuesday night in his return to the Cubs lineup against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs were 4-4 while Rizzo was on the disabled list with tightness in his lower back. Ben Zobrist, who picked up the slack while Rizzo was out, will bat leadoff against Adam Wainwright.
Wainwright is 14-9 lifetime against the Cubs, including 10-2 with a 3.79 ERA at Wrigley. His 14 wins against the Cubs is tops among active pitchers.
Addison Russell, who is 6-for-15 lifetime against Wainwright, will bat seventh — behind Javier Baez, who is 1-for-11 against Wainwright.
Tyler Chatwood, who hasn’t pitched since April 10, will start for the Cubs.
