Gigi Hadid walked at Brandon Maxwell, Kaia Gerber walked at Anna Sui, and Ashley Graham walked at Prabal Gurung — and while those ladies are majorly in demand at New York Fashion Week, one show this week had an entirely different breed of model all together.
Actually, there were several breeds, including a Shih Tzu, a Yorkie, and a Pomerania-husky hybrid.
Anthony Rubio, a self-proclaimed ‘pet fashion couturier,’ debuted his fall/winter 2018 collection on Sunday, complete with dozens of little doggy outfits modeled by some very fashionable pups.

Rubio has actually been putting on ‘canine couture’ fashion shows for a decade, but this one is particularly special — since 2018 is the Chinese Year of the Dog.
At the show, doggy models wore dresses, capes and jackets, which were embellished with sequins, crystals, glass bead work, and opalescent paillettes.
Some were accessorized with hats, bows, or collars, and most appear to have been specially groomed for the occasion.
According to the designer, the collection featured ball gowns, bejeweled kimonos, and a sheer illusion vest.
‘The ideas and inspirations for my Fall/Winter 2018 collection for New York Fashion Week just fell on my lap,’ he said in a press release. ‘The new Lunar New Year is The Year Of The Dog.

‘For this show there was an explosion of shine and color reflecting the lights, creating a kaleidoscopic experience,’ he went on.
But this time around, Rubio didn’t limit himself to designing only for man’s best friend — he made some clothes for their humans, too.
Joking that his show is ‘where the humans are the accessories,’ Rubio dressed mostly-female models in outfits that didn’t exactly match, but made for some very chic pet-and-owner pairs.

And while some of the people to walk had past modeling experience — like Karina Ramos, who was Miss Costa Rica 2014 — the dogs were all celebrities in their own right.
Rubio put together a cast of canine Instagram influencers, including Liv (a Yorkie with over 35,000 followers) and Sparkles (a Shih Tzu with 52,000 followers).
There was also Rita the French Bulldog, a three-month-old Pomsky named GreyShoes, Chihuahuas Bogie and Kimba, and a two-month-old Leonberger named Wolverine.
