MLB free agency rumors: Orioles sign Andrew Cashner, reports say

Teams looking for starting pitching depth have one less option on Thursday, with word that the Baltimore Orioles are signing former Texas Rangers right-hander Andrew Cashner.

Cashner was part of the 2018 free agent class which saw little movement before the start of spring training.

But things began picking up last week once Yu Darvish signed with the Chicago Cubs.

However there are still plenty of free agent options out there for pitching-hungry teams, including Jake ArrietaAlex Cobb and Lance Lynn.

Aaron Judge takeaways

As for Cashner, he leaves Texas after just one season. He went 11-11 in 2017 with a 3.40 ERA in 28 starts.

Cashner’s career started with the Cubs, before moving on to Padres, Marlins and Rangers.

Cashner’s best season came in San Diego in 2013, when he went 10-9 with a 3.09 ERA in 31 games (26 starts).
