Former member Gemma Atkinson has admitted competing on has had a surprising affect on her body.

The 33-year-old is known for her multiple appearances in the lads’ mags just as much as her acting in soaps.

On regularly shares her workout tips and snaps from the gym, though hasn’t recently.

She and her dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec appeared on today’s Lorraine to chat all things Strictly.

But Gemma confessed: “I’ve put on nearly a stone. It’s his fault. He brings in chocolate and donuts – I look at it and put on weight!”

Slovenian Aljaž, 27, assured her it was a good weight gain, saying: “It’s the dancing muscles. They get really heavy.”

Commenting on her weight gain, Gemma wrote on Instagram: “My body and skin are screaming for me to put down the sugar and pick up a vegetable.”

The duo could have another three weeks left on Strictly if they manage to make it all the way to the final.

This week they will dance a Quickstep to Hello Dolly from Hello Dolly! in the hopes of impressing viewers at home.

Gemma is in the middle of the pack, according to bookies Betfair, so it seems she will make it to at least the semi-finals.

Of course, Lorraine couldn’t have Gemma on the show without quizzing her on the romance rumours between her and Gorka Marquez.

Gemma confirmed that she and Gorka, 27, are “just pals” and that there was no beef between her and his dance partner Alexandra Burke, 29.

She said: “Everyone gets on so, so well. Literally, it’s a cliche, but it’s like a family. Everyone’s lovely.

“That’s one of the sad things about the show ending, but we have a WhatsApp group. We can all keep in contact.”

Pushing her point home even more, she told Lorraine: “People love drama and people love romance, so they try [and create it].”

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8.30am on ITV.
