While the initial teaser for the Incredibles 2whet appetites, metaphorically playing into our rabid, years-long anticipation for this sequel to finally arrive (at one point, Jack-Jack, the baby of the family, claps jubilantly at the sight of the Incredibles logo), the newest “sneak peek” finally gives us way more of the goods we’re actually seeking. Returning characters and plot details abound: As was previously known, the new film picks up where the first one left off, with the family taking on the Underminer, before spinning into a new story involving a tycoon (Bob Odenkirk) who wants to rehabilitate the public image of superheroes with the help of Elastigirl (Holly Hunter).
She jets off on her mission on her very cool motorcycle, leaving Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) at home in charge of Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. Of course, being a stay-at-home parent isn’t easy, and Mr. Incredible seems to be having a hard time of it, as seen by his struggles to help with homework and read to Jack-Jack without falling asleep. Hijinks ensue, Mr. Incredible insists to Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) that this is all for the best—“I’ve got to succeed, so she can succeed, so we can succeed!”—and scene-stealer Edna Mode (Brad Bird) pops up just in time to throw some shade before the teaser ends.
June 15 can’t come soon enough.
